Lance, Leach & Poultice

Lance, Leach and Poultice are a trilogy of short films about the process of identifying, processing and ultimately ending the cycle of trauma. This narrative is told metaphorically by comparing the act of healing psychological trauma to the steps in healing an abscessed wound. The title of the trilogy (Lance , Leach & Poultice) is a direct protocol for treating such a wound in the tradition of folk medicine. The films use a variety of media to tell each story, including puppetry, movement, and stop-motion animation. The first film in the trilogy, “Lance”, was released in 2018. The second film “Leach” is currently in pre-production.

LANCE

"Lance" is the first film in the trilogy "Lance, Leach & Poultice", written and directed by Feral Maz. "Lance", which introduces the viewer to a host of Maz's original characters, explores themes of dissociative identity, fractured memory, and the lasting impact of trauma. Visceral, poignant, and visually stunning, "Lance" serves as the quintessential companion to Feral Maz's album of the same name.
